Tips For New Yoga Students

  • Please arrive 5-10 minute before class start time and sign in at the front desk.
  • We start on time as respect for the practice. We end on time as respect for you.
  • Leave your shoes and belongings at the shoe rack and shelves in the lobby area (we will always have a front desk staff person to watch your things or lock the front door once class starts).
  • Please stay on your own mat and refrain from assisting other practitioners.
  • Respect your limits. Acknowledge that your body and mind are different everyday. Practice with care and consideration towards yourself and others.
  • The few minutes before and after class are ideal for meditation. In the yoga room please minimize conversation and turn off your electronics.
  • If you have an injury, are pregnant, or have any other reason where you may need to modify a pose, please let the teacher know before class so he or she may give you appropriate variations.

Please bring along a mat, water, and wear comfortable clothes. We have mat rentals for $2 if you ever need one, and also have mats for sale.

In a typical yoga class, students place their mats facing the front of the room (identifiable by our small altar and large wall hanging).  In classes that are fairly full, please place the center of the front of your mat at an Infinity symbol on the floor in the room, this will help everyone align correctly!
Blocks, straps, and blankets are located at the back of the room. The teacher will let you know if you need one or more of these items.

The teachers may start class by leading the class in chanting "om." Depending on the teacher, there may be a breathing exercise or short meditation at the start of class.

This is followed by warm-up poses, more vigorous poses, then stretches and final relaxation. At any time, take child's pose if you need some rest.

Know that you may be a little sore the day after your first class.

LATE CANCEL/NO SHOW POLICY - We will NEVER charge you or deduct a class from your account if you miss class or late cancel (w/in 4 hours of class time) UNLESS that class is full. For students with class packs, we will just apply your class, for unlimited students, we will apply a $6 charge for late cancels and a $12 charge for a missed class.
